The eleventh stone is a piece of an original pillar from the Petersen House in Washington, D.C., the house where Lincoln died. General U.S. Grant III donated the column section when he was in charge of the house. The pillar was cut from Seneca Creek sandstone quarried near Washington, D.C. The plaque reads: This pillar from the original front porch of the house at 516 Tenth St., Washington, D.C., where President Lincoln died April 15, 1865. Indiana Lincoln Union ![]() |
